Drug Enforcement Agency's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health... ✅ 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers ✅ 4.9 million people misused prescription stimulants ✅ 5.9 million people misused prescription tranquilizers/sedatives ⚠️The survey also showed that a majority of misused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. The DEA 's Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths. Residents in Columbiana County can drop unused or expired medication off at: City of Salem Ohio Police Department or East Liverpool City Hospital.

ADAPT of Columbiana County, formally known as the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Team (2010-2020), focuses on Mental Health Awareness, Drug & Alcohol Prevention, Tobacco-Free Living and Suicide Prevention across the lifespan of residents in Columbiana County, Ohio. With an emphasis on building protective factors in children, empowering women, strengthening men and enhancing the community, ADAPT is constantly assessing the needs of the community in an effort to develop programs, campaigns and events that target the general population.
