The Ohio Coalition of Excellence

The Alcohol Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT) Coalition of Columbiana County was awarded the Ohio Coalition of Excellence designation Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in Columbus. Shemane Marsh from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services presented Brenda Foor, ADAPT Coalition Coordinator, and Tricia Wilson, Outreach Specialist for Family Recovery Center, with the award. The Ohio Coalition of Excellence (OCoE) is a designation sponsored by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, recognizing excellence for coalitions working in behavioral health or a related prevention field. “Becoming an Ohio Coalition of Excellence illustrates that your coalition is using local data and evidence-based prevention strategies to create meaningful change in your community,” according to the award. The ADAPT Coalition is only one of two Coalitions in the State of Ohio that have this designation. The ADAPT Coalition’s mission is to plan and implement strategies to prevent and reduce youth substance use. The Coalition’s goal is to motivate the community to promote and support healthy lifestyles for all residents and to eliminate underage use of alcohol and other drugs. The program is administered by the Family Recovery Center.
